Katy Perry wanted for X Factor
Katy Perry is wanted to replace Kelly Rowland as a judge on 'The X Factor'
Katy Perry is wanted to be a judge on 'The X Factor'.
The 'Part of Me' singer is being pursued by Simon Cowell and bosses to replace Kelly Rowland on the panel who is not returning for another series after failing to "connect with the audience".
Katy impressed Simon when she stepped in as a guest judge when former mentor Dannii Minogue was on maternity leave in 2010 and it is believed the pop beauty would be a hit with viewers in a permanent position.
A source told the Daily Mail newspaper: "Kelly is 95 per cent unlikely to return. Kelly was great in the auditions, but when she joined the live shows it just seemed that she didn't really relax and enjoy herself. And to be honest, she wasn't that popular with viewers.
"Hopefully, Katy Perry will have some kind of role on the series."
Even if Katy can't commit to the programme as a full-time judge it is hoped the 27-year-old pop star will be involved in some capacity for the audition process.
Gary Barlow has already been confirmed to be returning to the ITV show for a second series after signing a £2 million deal and will join Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos on the panel.
Tulisa confirmed she was returning as a judge during an interview with Steve Wright on BBC Radio 2 and admitted she couldn't wait to get started.
She said: "I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say, but yes I'm coming back ... I love it."
It had previously been claimed that Kelly had demanded a £1.5 million salary to return to 'The X Factor' after learning of Take That star Gary's pay packet.
Auditions kick-off in Cardiff, Wales, on May 15.
