Tyler James says Amy Winehouse was his "soulmate".
'The Voice' hopeful admits he grew particularly close the singer - who was found dead in her London home last July aged 27 - when he moved in with her and she nursed him back to health after he was the subject of a shocking gang attack in 2005.
He said: "She made me chicken soup. I'd cry my eyes out... At first it didn't feel right to sleep together, but after I got better, it just felt right. She was my soulmate."
The 29-year-old hopeful - who trained at the Sylvia Young stage school in north London with the 'Rehab' hitmaker - remembers feeling "terrified" when he was set upon by the gang, who broke his nose and left him covered in blood.
He recalled to heat magazine: "I was at the bus stop in Bow in east London and [this gang] came up to me.
"They said, 'Give me your phone,' but as I went to put my hand in my pocket, they started punching me... I couldn't get myself up, I was covered in blood. I felt a foot go across my nose and I heard it break. It was horrible, terrifying. I was just waiting to get stabbed.
"I had to get a plastic surgeon to put my nose back together."
