Corrie's Kirsty's parents to join the soap
'Coronation Street' viewers are set to be introduced to Kirsty Soames' parents, who could help to explain why she beats fiance Tyrone Dobbs
'Coronation Street' viewers are set to be introduced to Kirsty Soames' parents.
The possessive policewoman, played by Natalie Gumede - who will be at the centre of a domestic abuse plot when she starts hitting her fiance Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) - will be joined in Weatherfield by her mum and Dad and Natalie believes it could help to explain her behaviour.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, Natalie explained: "Kirsty's parents will arrive in a couple of months and her father is a force to be reckoned with!
"Of course, nothing can justify Kirsty's behaviour, so I don't think the viewers will have any sympathy for her. Even so, it may give them more of a clue as to what made her the way she is."
Despite the sinister turn her character has taken, Natalie is enjoying her time on the ITV1 soap and believes domestic abuse needs to be highlighted.
She added: "The writing so far has been fantastic. It's nerve-wracking and daunting to play, but I do think it's a story that needs to be told."
