UK music dominates European market

British musical talent is gaining increased momentum in the European market according to statistics from the British Phonographic Industry. UK artists are dominating sales in France and Germany thanks to artists such as Muse, Katie Melua, Robbie Williams and Scottish star Paolo Nutini. The Beatles phenomenon continues to boost UK record sales abroad, starring as one of the top British exports last year. Record sales figures have reached a four year high. BPI chief executive Geoff Taylor commented that the rise in sales “demonstrates the diversity and quality of new British artists”.
