Dara O'Briain is 'pro geek'
Dara O'Briain who is trying to make maths fun with his new TV show 'School Of Hard Sums' says he is "pro geek".
Dara O'Briain is "pro geek".
The 'Mock The Week' funnyman's new show 'School Of Hard Sums' is aiming to make maths fun and Dara is aware that his love of numbers and science doesn't make him cool.
He said: "I'm all about the geek, I'm pro-geek. We should just let people enjoy themselves in any way they choose and not judge them. I'm a huge admirer of people who stick with the things they enjoy."
Although the new programme 'School Of Hard Sums' on Dave had a hugely successful first episode last night (16.04.12), Dara has no illusions about making maths cool.
He tweeted: "So, would viewers of Dave actually want to watch a show about maths? Turns out... yes. We got double the normal audience. Yay for maths! (sic)"
Dara added to The Sun newspaper: "I'm not the person to make something trendy. I'm not the Alexa Chung of Science. I am not the Agyness Deyn of mathematics.
"It's not like the cool kids are going to go, 'Wow, what is he doing now? What is the large, bald, fat man doing now that we should all do. He is the weathervane of cool'. I'm more interested in entertaining those who already enjoy the thing."
