Fort William festival includes King Creosote, The Phantom Band and Admiral Fellow
As the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup takes place in Fort William this summer, music festival Downhill Downtown will bring its own brand of excitement to the town, with a host of Scottish musicians to keep the party going into the wee hours.
Confirmed artists for the event, which will be held in Fort William’s Nevis Centre on Fri 8 and Sat 9 of June, include King Creosote, The Phantom Band, Admiral Fellow, Bwani Junction and Edinburgh’s own alternative rap troupe Stanley Odd.
The event aims to connect the best music in Scotland with a premier sporting event. The mountain biking championship will stretch from the 9-10 June, with the downhill route itself being a race straight down the face of Aonach Mor – the ninth highest mountain in the UK.
Event manager Michael Lambert believes there is a 'natural synergy' between mountain biking and music, and said of the event:
'We are thrilled to be programming a line up that celebrates the quality and range of the Scottish music scene at one of the country’s key sporting events.'
While the full running order will be confirmed in the weeks leading up to the event, the bill on Friday 8 includes Stanley Odd, with Saturday 9 bill including King Creosote, The Phantom Band, Admiral Fallow, Bwani Junction, The Little Kicks and Homework.
Weekend tickets are priced at £17.50, Fri: £6, Sat: £15. Discounted tickets are available for Mountain Bike Downhill World Cup ticket holders.
