Simon Cowell's X Factor video link
Simon Cowell is considering appearing on the next series of 'The X Factor' - by a Skype video link.
Simon Cowell is set to return to 'The X Factor' - as the "Voice of God".
The music mogul - who departed the panel of the show last year to focus on the US version of the programme - has no plans to go back to being a full time judge on the star-search contest but is considering using video conference software Skype to pass his verdict on hopefuls.
The move is being discussed as Simon is concerned the BBC's talent contest 'The Voice' - which beat his 'Britain's Got Talent' in the ratings at the weekend - could become known as the best singing contest and he wants 'The X Factor' to retain its crown.
A source said: "This is serious now for Simon. 'BGT' losing out to 'The Voice' is one thing, but he's terrified this is going to have negative repercussions for 'The X Factor'.
"All options are being considered and having him as the Voice of God is one of them. He quite likes the idea.
"'X Factor' is Simon's baby and he'll do whatever he can to make it a success. He won't let something like the Atlantic get in the way of things."
A spokesperson for the show insisted the plan has not yet been confirmed but admitted Simon is always "closely involved" in developments and changes to the format.
The spokesperson said: "Simon is closely involved with the show and its direction. Ideas for the new series are still being discussed."
