James 'Arg' Argent helped 'Britain's Got Talent' hopeful Tony Roberts lose over nine stone after he was told by doctors he could die.
The 'Only Way Is Essex' star - who has battled his own issues in the past - decided to help pal Tony by taking the wannabe singer to boot camp with him last year.
Tony - who wowed the judges on Saturday night (07.04.12) with his performance of Stevie Wonder's 'Sir Duke' - told The Sun newspaper: "I lost the weight when a doctor told me I was close to a heart attack. I weighed 25st when I was 19 and now I weigh 16st. Arg took me to boot camp with him and it was an amazing experience."
Tony hopes to repay crooner Arg by performing a duet with him.
He said: "I met Arg a few years ago through Amy Childs and he loved my voice. We did talk about working together at the time. I can see us doing a swing duet one day."
As well as worries over his health, Tony says he wanted to lose the weight after he was rejected by judge Simon Cowell in the 2006 series of 'The X Factor'.
He revealed: "I got to the final 14 in Leona Lewis' year. I do think image matters and that's part of why I wanted to get fit. I hit the gym and started dieting as well.
"Simon didn't even recognise me this time around!"
