Jack Whitehall writes teacher sitcom
Jack Whitehall will play the "worst teacher ever" in a new BBC3 sitcom he has penned
Jack Whitehall has written a new sitcom for BBC3.
The 23-year-old comedian will play school teacher Alfie - renowned for being "the worst teacher ever" - in the comedy, and will be joined by 'Gavin and Stacey' actor Mat Horne, Sarah Solemani and Michelle Gomez in the project, which BBC bosses are said to be "terribly excited" about.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Jack has written a very funny series and everyone is terribly excited about it. It could be as big as 'The Office' or 'Gavin & Stacey'."
Mat will play a headteacher who is prone to public gaffs.
Jack - whose own experience at school saw him spend much time being jealous of Robert Pattinson, who was a couple of years above him - most recently starred in his own Channel 4 show 'Hit The Road Jack', where he goes around the UK on a comedy tour.
He is also set to become a regular panellist on Sky 1's 'A League of Their Own' this year.
