Sir Paul McCartney is a fan of Bruno Mars and Kanye West.

The 'My Valentine' singer gets a friend to make playlists of new tracks for him, and singles out 'Grenade' hitmaker Bruno as one of his favourites.

Paul told UK radio station XFM: "I have a mate who puts together compilations of new music, so that's what I listen to.

"I was just listening to a bit of Bruno Mars last night, and - for pop - he does some good stuff, he did very well on the Grammy's and I like a lot of Kanye West.

"Emeli Sande has a good record, but I'm not totally up on all the names. There's certainly some good records about."

Former The Beatles musician Paul is currently touring Europe, but doesn't like to pick a set list from his considerable back catalogue until just before he and his band take to the stage, to keep things "fresh".

He added: "We always do the set list last minute. One of the reasons is because we play most nights,we do it after soundcheck, to keep it a little fresher for us."

He jokingly added: "The band know the songs better than I do. They know all the words and the chords, I just know some of the words and most of the chords. But then I say, 'I wrote it so any mistakes are re-writes.'"

Bruno Mars

Soppy ballads and R&B with a tasteful hip hop edge from the all-conquering commercial troubadour who has also written a bunch of hits for other artists including Travie McCoy and BOB and who comes backed with a fine old school band of funk soul brothers.
