Jamie Foreman wants his 'EastEnders' alter-ego to fall in love.

The 53-year-old actor - who portrays Derek Branning in the BBC One soap - thinks a woman with similar character traits as his onscreen sister Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) would be the perfect catch for the Albert Square hardman because she is "attractive and feisty".

He said: "He's been flirting with every woman trying to get a bird, and he still hasn't got one! Derek's main priority is his family, but it would be lovely if they brought in a lady for him who's attractive and feisty - someone like Carol, actually! I'd be great to see Derek fall in love."

Jamie finds it "fascinating" working alongside his onscreen family Scott Maslen (Jack Branning) and Jake Wood (Max Branning), and he is looking forward to Derek's relationship with Carol getting "really good" because Lindsey is "heaven" to star alongside.

He added to Inside Soap magazine: "They're a family that bicker and argue, but will always stand next to each other in a crisis. That's what is fascinating about playing those scenes with Scott, Jake and with Lindsey particularly.

"The relationship between Carol and Derek gets really good, and I'm enjoying every second of it. I love Lindsey - she's heaven to work with."
