'Britain's Got Talent' hopeful Sam Kelly says his audition was inspired by his cheating ex-girlfriend.

The 19-year-old singer impressed the judges - Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams - with his version of Adele's 'Make You Feel My Love' on Saturday night's (24.02.12) show and admits he tapped into painful memories of his former girlfriend to give a heartfelt performance.

He told The Sun newspaper: "I am currently single, my last girlfriend cheated on me. She is not a very nice person actually, so it is probably a good thing.

"It is quite a while ago but the keen sting of that still hasn't gone away."

Following his performance, new judge David told him: "I think when you tackle a song like that, it's not just your voice - it's the way you make us believe you've lived every line of that song. I was completely blown away."

Sam admits he wasn't really nervous about his audition even though the notoriously-harsh Simon was back on the judging panel.

He added: "It was great getting his opinion though and he seemed to really like it."
