Matthew Wolfenden was crowned champion of 'Dancing On Ice' last night (25.03.12).
The 'Emmerdale' actor - who beat off stiff competition from runner-up Jorgie Porter to win the ITV1 celebrity skating competition - was praised by show judges Robin Cousins, Katarina Witt and Louie Spence for his breathtaking bolero routine with professional partner Nina Ulanova.
Katarina said: "It was gentle, it was sexy. I could not imagine what a world-class skater you would have become if you had started as a boy."
Despite both Matthew and 'Hollyoaks' actress Jorgie scoring top marks for their previous routines, fellow finalist Chico Slimani - who was the first of the trio to be voted off last night's show - didn't fare so well, and dropped his partner Jodeyne Higgins during his first performance.
After his win, an overwhelmed Matthew said: "It's going to take a while for this to sink in. I just can't believe it - I'm shaking.
"I thought I'd made the biggest mistake of my career when I first stepped on the ice. I thought I'd be a laughing stock. I couldn't even stand up very well, let alone lift Nina."
Meanwhile, Jorgie explained she was "so happy" for her soap pal to have been crowned champion.
She said: "I can't think of anyone better to be up against and I'm just so happy for them."
