Holly Willoughby honoured to host Surprise Surprise
Holly Willoughby says being asked to present the 'Surprise Surprise' special episode for ITV1 later this year is "an incredible honour".
Holly Willoughby says being asked to front the 'Surprise Surprise' special is "an incredible honour".
The 'This Morning' presenter will host the hour-long special of the show - originally fronted by Cilla Black from 1984 to 2001 - for ITV1, which will feature uplifting features, such as bringing distant relatives back together, tear-jerking surprises along with its trademark practical jokes and prank phone calls.
Holly said."What an incredible honour to be asked to present this 'Surprise Surprise' special for ITV1. I can't wait to get out there delivering new surprises to the nation".
Michael Kelpie, executive producer and creative director, added: "'Surprise Surprise' is one of those iconic ITV shows that I remember watching with my family growing up and the chance of bringing it back is a dream come true."
Holly's appointment was a surprise as it had been thought the presenter - who currently works alongside Phillip Schofield on 'This Morning' - had ruined her chances of presenting the series after quitting ITV1's 'Dancing On Ice' in favour of upcoming BBC One talent show 'The Voice'.
Producers are currently searching for people who wish to get involved to spring a surprise on family members or friends with applications closing on June 24.
The first show will air in the autumn and if successful, it is thought it could lead to a series or at least several specials.
