Lorraine Kelly will be forced to miss another two weeks of work following her fall from a horse last Tuesday (21.02.12).
The 52-year-old TV presenter lost a lot of blood when the animal stamped on her thigh following her dramatic tumble, and although she has been released from hospital in South London, it will take at least a fortnight before she can return to her ITV1 morning show 'Lorraine'.
Lorraine is expected to return home to Scotland to continue her recuperation, according to The Sun newspaper.
Stand in presenter Nadia Sawalha read a message from Lorraine on air yesterday (27.02.12) which stated: "Thanks to everyone for the get well messages. It was frightening but I'm getting better.
"The operation went well and the wound is healing nicely but my left leg is black and blue and swollen. I'll probably have a hoof-shaped scar."
Lorraine previously revealed her fall occurred during a private horse riding lesson in London which was part of her training for a charity event, and was only her second attempt at the sport.
She said: "It was only my second time on a horse and I was attempting a modest jump when I fell off.
"As I landed on the ground, the horse trampled on me and stamped on my inner thigh. There was a lot of blood, and a deep wound.
"I did get a real shock, a real fright, but it was an accident and these things happen."
