Natalie J. Robb insisted on filming her own stunts for Emmerdale's dramatic car crash.
The 37-year-old actress - who plays Moira Barton in the ITV1 soap - and James Thornton, who stars as her on-screen husband John Barton, hardly used their stunt doubles for the shocking scene, which sees the pair fighting for their lives after their Land Rover skids off a road and rolls down a ravine.
She said: "I got some bruises - I was throwing myself about. You want to make it look realistic, so I didn't mind all that,
"We did have stunt doubles, we had two doubles for both of us, but in the end, we didn't really use them - because you have to make it look as real as possible. It wasn't that bad, really."
Natalie and James filmed the crash scene in the early hours of the morning in the Yorkshire Moors, but she explained everything was perfectly organised thanks to director Michael Lacey.
Speaking on 'Lorraine', she added: "We had to do three night shoots from 2am until 2pm. There was five Land Rovers that we used and just dressed them in different areas.
"Michael Lacey, the director, really thought about it and it was all story-boarded. We only had three nights to do it in, and a lot to cover."
The crash scenes are set to air in an hour-long special episode tonight (16.02.12) at 7pm on ITV1.
