Coldplay have conceded defeat to Adele at the BRIT Awards.
Frontman Chris Martin is "pretty sure" the 'Someone Like You' hitmaker will triumph when their 'Mylo Xyloto' record goes head-to-head with her '21' album for the British Album of the Year prize at the ceremony next Tuesday (21.02.12).
Speaking on BBC Radio 2, he said: "Unless Adele somehow deletes her albums, I think we can come to the conclusion that [we won't win]. I'm pretty sure of it."
Chris added Coldplay, who are also nominated for the British Group prize, are always grateful to be recognised for awards by the British music industry.
Chris added: "You can be one of those artists that don't really care about them or you can, like us, love it, and we're always so grateful to be included. It's a kind of Olympics for a band; it's nice to win a medal."
Meanwhile, Emeli Sande - who has been named the winner of the BRITs Critics Choice Award for rising young artists ahead of next week's ceremony at London's O2 Arena - has told how Coldplay have helped her in her career so far and how she hopes touring America with them in March will help her go further.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: "Coldplay have been so supportive of me, they treat me very well.
"I want to take my music as far as I can so I will be doing some shows in the US in March."
Both Coldplay and Adele will perform at the BRIT Awards 2012, held at The O2 in London, next Tuesday (21.02.12).
