Kate Ford: Tracy Barlow will never give in

Kate Ford thinks her 'Coronation Street' alter-ego will never give up on her quest to find love with Steve McDonald.
The 34-year-old actress - who plays scheming temptress Tracy Barlow in the ITV1 soap - admitted even though her character "messed up" by lying to the hapless barman (Simon Gregson) about miscarrying his baby twins, she won't accept that 20 years of hard work in trying to snare him has come to nothing.
She said: "She's really messed it up, hasn't she? She's spent 20 years trying to get him, and then she's messed it up at the last hurdle! She's not going to give in - ever."
Tracy had originally claimed Steve's ex-wife Becky McDonald (Katherine Kelly) had caused the miscarriage by pushing her down the stairs, but Becky revealed the truth by presenting the couple with Tracy's medical records on their wedding day before jetting off to start a new life in Barbados.
However, Kate doesn't think the incident will signal a new "nicer" side to her cruel alter-ego because she believes 'Corrie' viewers like her to be evil.
She added in an interview with What's On TV magazine: "I think Tracy's been a bit nicer lately - a little bit nicer! I think a mixture is nice, otherwise it's all one thing. It's quite nice to have a mixture.
"Fans would be really disappointed if she became all nice. That's not who the character is - people don't want the character to change."
