Miranda Hart 'terrified' by midwife role

Miranda Hart was "terrified" when she learned how to deliver a baby.
The 'Miranda' star plays her first dramatic role in BBC One series 'Call the Midwife', and she admits learning the techniques used by the nurses was scary and she would not be confident around a woman in labour.
She said: "It was terrifying learning how to deliver a baby, and I certainly would not feel confident if someone went into labour near me.
"But working with young babies was amazing too. I don't have kids and haven't been around many children so when I was presented with a five day old baby, I realised just what an amazing thing it is - and that midwives are angels."
However, the 39-year-old actress did not find the part made her desperate to have a baby herself.
She said: "It didn't make me feel broody, though - one baby p***ed in my glove! I put it straight down and though, no thanks."
She hopes playing the character may now lead to opportunities in other areas of drama.
Miranda added to Reveal magazine: "It would be amazing if I had the luck in my career to do drama as well as getting a laugh through my writing."
