Noel Gallagher insists his decision to quit Oasis has been good for him and Liam.

The 'If I Had a Gun...' singer quit the super-group in August 2009 after a huge backstage fight with his brother and bandmate but he insists the break-up has been good for both brothers and especially the fans.

However, the songwriter admits he does have regrets about the "apocalyptic" way the band disbanded.

He said: "The only regret I have of the night in Paris is not playing the show. I should have done the gig then let everything simmer down. Things would have looked a little less apocalyptic six months down the line.

"Saying that, where we've all ended up ... Liam thinks he's in the best band in the world - good for him. I'm comfortable doing what I'm doing - good for me. The fans, instead of getting one Oasis album every three years, they get two ... everyone's a winner."

Noel'a debut solo LP 'Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds' has sold over twice as many copies of Liam's band Beady Eye's first album 'Different Gear, Still Speeding' - but the guitarist insists he gets no pleasure from beating his brother.

In an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post newspaper, he said: "It's great that I've sold nearly half a million records. It's not great that I've sold half a million more than anybody else.

"Record sales don't make it a better record than anybody else's. You look at some of the best albums of all time and they've sold s**t. It's great to sell records but I don't have a rivalry with anyone else."
