Blur look set to perform at the Brit Awards, and may ''approach things seriously'' to record new material in 2012

Blur look set to perform at the Brit Awards, and may record new material in 2012.

The 'Parklife' group have been largely defunct since 2003, apart from a series of one-off shows in 2009, but are expected to get together to perform as they accept the Outstanding Achievement Awards at this year's BRITs ceremony next month.

Guitarist Graham Coxon told NME magazine: "It should be a laugh playing the old songs again."

He also said the group have been meeting up together casually, but said if they are to do any more recording, they will have to approach things seriously.

He added: "If Blur record anything, that's gonna be taken seriously by us four. It can't just be a casual thing.

"It's good to casually say we get together, but if we were going to anything to be taken seriously, by ourselves or anyone else, it'd have to be a bit more than casual."

Bass player Alex James - who is also in the group, alongside Graham, singer Damon Albarn and drummer Dave Rowntree - also hinted the group could record together, possibly on a single or EP.

He said: "Is there such a thing as an album? And does music have to come 12 tracks at a time?"
