Charlene Tilton was inspired to take part in 'Dancing On Ice' after watching her fiance die in front of her.
The 52-year-old 'Dallas' star - who has recently reprised her role as Lucy Ewing in the US soap opera - vowed to achieve as much as possible in her life after seeing cinematographer Cheddy Hart's untimely death two years ago after suffering from a lung condition.
She said: "I decided to do it because my fiance passed away at Christmas two years ago. It was unexpected and was right in front of me.
"It really made me realise we are not guaranteed our next breath, our next heartbeat - only God knows."
Since Cheddy's passing, Charlene - who is partnered alongside professional skater Matt Gonzalez in the ITV1 celebrity skating show - has given up smoking and alcohol and has become good friends with fellow 'Dancing On Ice' contestant and fitness guru Rosemary Conley.
She added in an interview with The Sun newspaper: "I thought, 'I'm going to take every opportunity life brings.' I want to live life to the full - and Rosemary is an inspiration. She is such a gorgeous person.
"I keep thinking, 'Why wasn't I listening to her before I met her?' But it's never too late. I can start listening to her now."
