EastEnders' Carol Jackson is to agree to leave Walford with David Wicks.

The former childhood sweethearts are set to rekindle their relationship and after David (Michael French) botches an attempt to plant stolen goods on his enemy, Carol's brother Derek Branning (Jamie Foreman), he decides to leave Albert Square again and asks the downtrodden matriarch to join him.

Lindsey Coulson, who plays Carol, explained: "Carol thinks, 'Why not?' David makes her feel good and she's not thinking very far ahead. She's in the moment. It's not just a sex thing - it's about having somebody love her again."

Lindsey thinks her alter-ego will be devastated if David - who left her when she was expecting their daughter Bianca (Patsy Palmer) - breaks off their romance again and thinks it will spell the end for her character's love life.

She told Inside Soap magazine: "Carol will be very brittle if she loses David after this. She'll put up all her defences and think, 'That's it - nobody is going to destroy me again.' "

The actress admitted she is enjoying working closely with Michael French, who has reprised his role as David.

She added: "It's been lovely having Michael back. He makes me laugh and is a real joy to work with."
