Katherine Kelly is hoping her 'Coronation Street' alter-ego Becky McDonald clears her name before she leaves Weatherfield.
The bolshie blonde is set to depart the cobbles later this month after husband Steve (Simon Gregson) left her for scheming Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), following her accusations that Becky pushed her down the stairs resulting in the miscarriage of her twins.
However, Katherine knows her feisty character won't be prepared to leave without a fight.
She said: "Becky's got to clear her name now, that's the thing.
"She's worked really hard, it's been this lovely redemption story and the Croppers [Roy and Hayley] have sort of trained her to become a good woman and now, not only has she lost the love of her life, but now it looks like she may lose her good name.
"It's a shame because she's worked so hard to achieve that. It's for Becky to prove she's not the evil person Tracy has made her out to be."
Katherine admits it was a very difficult decision to choose to leave the ITV1 soap - which she has starred in for five years - and filming her final scenes with co-star Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley Cropper) was an "emotional" experience.
She added in an interview with ITV1's 'This Morning': "I actually filmed my final scenes with the Croppers so myself and Julie were really emotional - she was beside herself.
"With Simon, it was again very emotional. But I'm really looking forward to watching the final scenes."
