Michelle Keegan thinks her 'Coronation Street' alter-ego will be the "next Vera Duckworth".
The 24-year-old actress - who plays brunette bombshell Tina McIntyre in the ITV1 soap - is keen for her character to find love with Tommy Duckworth (Chris Fountain), as she thinks they could follow in the footsteps of legendary 'Corrie' couple Jack and Vera.
She told Inside Soap magazine: "Tina still sees Tommy as a friend. But they're very well suited.
"In some ways, Tina and Tommy are like a young Jack and Vera - she wears the trousers and he's the one always getting things wrong."
After a string of failed romances with the likes of Dr. Matt Carter (Oliver Mellor), Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) and David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), Michelle has previously admitted she is keen for her alter-ego to remain single for a while.
She said: "I wish they would leave Tina single for a while. I think she needs a bit of time without a boyfriend, but that's not what's happening, as she's got a new fella on the way.
"She always goes from one to the other. I'm hoping that soon Tina gets some time without a man."
