Michelle Dockery wants her 'Downton Abbey' alter-ego Lady Mary Crawley to find love with hunky Matthew.
The 30-year-old actress hopes the aristocratic beauty will ditch her newspaper baron fiancee Sir Richard Carlisle - played by Iain Glen - in favour of her dashing cousin in the show's upcoming Christmas special.
Speaking on ITV1's 'Downton Abbey: Behind The Drama', she said: "They were meant to be together. But maybe they can't be, maybe it is too late.
"She is with this person who she is going to spend the rest of her life with but she doesn't love him."
Meanwhile, Dan Stevens - who portrays Matthew Crawley in the ITV1 period drama has previously admitted he thinks the 'Will they, won't they' aspect of his alter-ego's storyline with Lady Mary is one of the most "enjoyable" aspects of 'Downton', and his biggest challenge is hiding his scripts from his wife.
He recently told BANG Showbiz: "As far as I'm concerned our storyline and that, 'Will they, won't they?' is one of the most enjoyable things about being in 'Downton'.
"Trying to keep the scripts away from my wife is actually the biggest challenge."
