Sacha Parkinson wanted 50 years on Corrie
Sacha Parkinson has admitted she could have played Coronation Street's Sian Powers for 50 years, but felt like now was the right time to go.
Sacha Parkinson could have stayed in 'Coronation Street' for "50 years".
The 19-year-old actress - who has portrayed teen lesbian Sian Powers in the ITV1 soap since January 2009 - admitted while she is very "comfortable" in her role, she felt like she had to leave otherwise she would play the same part forever.
She said: "It's just really exciting, going back to auditioning. I'm not scared, actually, maybe in a few months if I don't get anything I will be.
"It's just something I have to do, and if I didn't do it now I never will. I was so comfortable there, I could have stayed there for the next 50 years."
Brooke Vincent - who plays Sian's on-screen lover Sophie Webster - is continuing in 'Corrie', but she explained saying goodbye to both her alter-ego's girlfriend and sister Rosie (Helen Flanagan) in one go has been a "mad" experience.
She added in an interview on ITV1's 'This Morning': "It's mad, especially with Helen, until the other day when she left I didn't actually realise she was going.
"I was walking out the green room and it was like off a film, 'Bye!' "
