Gemma Merna put off weddings by Hollyoaks

Gemma Merna has been put off getting married after witnessing catastrophic weddings in 'Hollyoaks'.
The blonde beauty - who plays ditzy Carmel McQueen in the Channel 4 soap - has been discouraged from tying the knot with her fiance Ian Minton because the programme's nuptials always seem to be a "disaster".
She said: "There could be a wedding if we get organised and start planning, but we're happy as we are. We've got a lot on at work so we're just seeing what happens.
"I'm not one of those girls who's planned their wedding day since they were eight. I'm a bit of a tomboy in that way.
"I'd love the big dress and everyone being there but it's the stress I don't want, which is why I think we have put it off for so long. Weddings in 'Hollyoaks' always seem to be a disaster so that puts you off too."
The 27-year-old star - who has portrayed the unlucky-in-love beautician since 2006 - is hoping to play a bigger part in the soap in 2012 after recently taking a step back following last year's gripping plotline which saw her on-screen fiance Calvin Valentine (Ricky Whittle) shot by her cousin Theresa McQueen (Jorgie Porter) after he got her pregnant.
Gemma added in an interview with the Daily Star newspaper: "It's time for the family to get back to being the party McQueens. Next year I want a fantastic storyline for Carmel and something to get my teeth into it.
"I think she's just pottered along so it would be nice next year for something to play out in Carmel's life without everyone else being involved. It would be great to see her a bit more on screen. I hope work carries on going just as well and that I get to do more shoots like this.
"As long as I have a successful and busy year, I'll be happy."
