Simon Cowell wants 'X Factor' finalists Little Mix to become the next Spice Girls.

The music mogul - who still oversees the ITV1 show despite quitting his judging role to concentrate on the US version - is a huge fan of the girl group and thinks they have the potentially to become worldwide stars.

A source said: "Simon is thrilled by the quality of this year's finalists - but he's extra excited about Little Mix. He genuinely believes they could be bigger than the Spice Girls.

"He's had huge successes in his career but a massive girl band has not really been one of them."

Simon - who will watch tonight (10.12.11) and tomorrow's (11.12.11) final via satellite in Los Angeles - is lining up top writers for Little Mix to ensure they have success, regardless of whether they win or not.

The source added to The Sun newspaper: "Simon will watch the final via satellite in Los Angeles. He has been showing all his industry pals there clips of Little Mix, saying, 'Watch out for these girls - they're going to be massive.' "

And it seems Simon isn't the only famous fan of Little Mix, made up of Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson and Perrie Edwards.

Former Spice Girls star Emma Bunton is rotting for the girls to win and beat fellow finalists Amelia Lily and Marcus Collins.

"I really, really hope they win. I think they're brilliant to watch and I think they could be really big.

"They work well together and they've got a great connection. I can see they are having fun and that's what it was like for the Spice Girls. I can see they've got that edge too."
