'Doctor Who' director David Yates believes finding the write scriptwriter for his big screen adaptation of the TV show is more important than choosing an actor to play the titular Time Lord

Finding a scriptwriter for the planned 'Doctor Who' movie is more important than choosing the star, according to director David Yates.

The 'Harry Potter' director plans to spend "two to three years" working with the BBC to turn the popular sci-fi TV series into a cinematic spectacular but rather than immediately find an actor to play the titular Time Lord -currently portrayed by Matt Smith - he says getting a writer is the more pressing concern.

He told MTV News:"I can't really talk about that because its such a long way away. We're principally looking for a writer, and we'll start with that. Everything has to start with a great script, so that's more important than [casting]."

David can't wait to start working on the project and says he isn't worried about the pressure of adapting the much loved show for the big screen because he has been through it all before with 'Harry Potter'.

He explained: "I've lived with pressure for so long. What's pressure? I don't know anymore! It's fine, it's good. It's such a wonderful character and such a wonderful world. It's exciting."
