Gary Barlow is hoping to persuade Stevie Wonder to perform in 'The X Factor' final.

The Take That singer believes after his act Marcus Collins performed Stevie's hit 'Lately' on Saturday night's show (26.11.11), a duo with the music legend could be enough to bag the Liverpudlian hopeful the 'X Factor' crown once and for all.

If Stevie is pulled in to the final, it is thought he will join the likes of Adele, Michael Buble and Coldplay, who have already reportedly signed up.

An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Marcus has the whole of Liverpool voting to get him through to the final, but Gary thinks Stevie Wonder would give him a real push in the final to get the whole country spurring him on to victory.

"Gary is trying to use all his contacts in the business to make it happen. Bosses would love a music legend like Stevie on the show too and would get him to do a medley of his hits at the same time."

Meanwhile, 'X Factor' boss Simon Cowell is believed to have chosen Damian Rice track 'Cannonball' as the eventual winner's single.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "It's one of three songs being considered for release. The acts are still recording the different options but Cannonball has a good shot.

"After reworking Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' for Alexandra Burke then Biffy's track 'Many Of Horror' for Matt Cardle last year, it's the next step. It would be a safe bet to sell well in the run-up to Christmas."
