Janet Devlin narrowly lost out on a place in the 'X Factor' final last night (27.11.11).
The 16-year-old singer - who sensationally forgot the words to her track on Saturday's Guilty Pleasures-themed episode - lost a sing-off against Misha B, which saw her perform a haunting rendition of Snow Patrol's 'Chasing Cars'.
Despite being a fan of the Irish teen throughout the competition, judge Louis Walsh said: "It's getting tougher and tougher. I'm taking everything into consideration, judging on last night's two performances and the sing-off. The act I'm sending home is Janet."
Tulisa Contostavlos added: "I'm going to base my decision on the person who has a career after the show, who will sell records and sellout arenas. I'm sorry to say I'm sending home Janet."
However, the girls' mentor Kelly Rowland caused controversy by refusing to decide between her two acts.
She said: "I know how great these two young ladies are. Janet, I admire you as a musician and you bring something so unique to the music industry.
"I absolutely love you and adore you. Misha, my goodness girl, you just want this so bad. I have to pass it, I'm sorry."
With host Dermot O'Leary telling the singer her failure to vote would mean Janet would leave the ITV1 show due to a majority decision, head judge Gary Barlow wasn't even able to pick which contestant he wanted to remain in the competition.
Janet said: "I'm feeling very confused. I can't wait to leave the show and get my music out there."
Little Mix, Marcus Collins, Amelia Lily and Misha B will now compete in next weekend's semi-final.
