Dougie Poynter worried about jungle pals
Dougie Poynter's McFly bandmate Tom Fletcher says his pal was more worried about making friends than having to tackle Bushtucker Trials
Dougie Poynter was more worried about making friends than undertaking Bushtucker Trials on 'I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!'.
The 24-year-old bassist's McFly bandmate Tom Fletcher claims his pal isn't bothered about facing up to jungle creepy crawlies, but worried about saying something "career-ending" on television prior to appearing on the show.
Tom said: "Dougie was nervous about meeting people and socialising more than anything. He wasn't worried about the trials or the bugs or spending time in the jungle.
"He was really worried he would open his mouth and say something career-ending. The whole reason he keeps quiet in interviews is because he's worried he's gonig to say something completely outrageous."
Tom also insisted he can't see Dougie quitting the contest - because he will force him to return to the Australian jungle if he walks out.
He told The Sun newspaper: "He won't walk. I told him, 'If you walk out, I'm marching you straight back in there.' "
Meanwhile, Dougie's new girlfriend Lara Carew-Jones has spoken of her "pride" in the 'Please, Please' hitmaker for his prowess in the jungle.
She said: "I think Dougie is doing brilliantly on the show. I'm really proud of him."
