'Daybreak' chiefs are planning to hire unknown presenters.

ITV1 bosses are currently on the hunt for new faces to front the flagship breakfast show after announcing current hosts Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley will be leaving in the new year.

Despite a string of high-profile stars - including Natasha Kaplinsky, Eamonn Holmes and Lorraine Kelly - being linked to take over from the duo, producers are believed to be looking for under-the-radar hosts.

Adrian and Christine joined 'Daybreak' in a multi-million-pound deal from 'The One Show' but failed to be as popular with viewers as they had been on the BBC evening show, and bosses are keen not to make the same mistake again.

A source explained to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "We've learned our lesson. It's cheaper too to hire unknown presenters."

Following the announcement that he and Christine will be leaving 'Daybreak', Adrian launched a scathing attack on show bosses.

He said: "I'm angry, upset and acutely embarrassed. Myself and Christine were told we would be going in the new year but we were assured we could go with our dignity intact. That's obviously not happened. We were enjoying the show and we thought things were going well. We didn't want to go.

"It was a bolt out of the blue and has come as a big blow to our careers that we've been dumped at this time. Dark forces have leaked it for their own ends and I am mightily unhappy about it."

Adrian will still front ITV's Champions League football coverage and his Sunday night chat show, while Christine will take over from Holly Willoughby as co-host of 'Dancing On Ice'.
