Freddie Starr has been rushed to hospital after suffering a suspected allergic reaction on 'I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!'.
The 68-year-old comedian was taking part in a gruesome Bushtucker Trial alongside 'TOWIE' hunk Mark Wright when he began to feel sick, and after being assessed by the ITV1 show's doctors in the Australian jungle, he was admitted to a nearby medical centre.
An ITV spokesman said: "Freddie Starr was taken unwell in the jungle. He was immediately attended to by on-site medics and taken to hospital where he was assessed by doctors.
"He will remain in hospital overnight as a precaution, and further tests continue. However, Freddie is in great spirits and keeping nursing staff entertained."
The hospitalisation will be a blow for Freddie, whose appearance on the ITV1 show - which launched last night (13.11.11) - was put in doubt last week due to complications regarding his insurance paperwork.
He said: "I've got the ticker for this - I'm not gonna quit. I may be voted out, but I'm no quitter. I don't know if I'll be King of the Jungle, who knows? I certainly won't be saying, 'I'm A Celebrity . Get Me Out Of Here!'
"What happened to me was nobody's fault. I don't blame anybody. It was all over one piece of paper that wasn't signed, but it's all sorted out now."
