Former 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' star Shaun Ryder is to present a new alien-hunting TV show for the History Channel

Shaun Ryder is going to hunt aliens for a new TV show.

The Happy Mondays singer has signed up to front History Channel series 'Shaun Ryder On UFOs' on which he will travel the world looking for extra-terrestrial activity.

Among the countries the former 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' star visits are Peru, Chile and Australia.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "He'll try to separate fact from fiction and meet odd characters, some of whom make him look sane. It will be revelatory but funny."

The 49-year-old musician - who was renowned for his hard-partying lifestyle in the 80s and 90s - has previously claimed he spotted a spacecraft in his hometown of Salford, Manchester, and that close encounter of the third kind sparked a life-long interest in aliens.

He said: "I've seen a couple of things which defy explanation. They were not craft from this planet.

"It was in the late 70s in Salford. Lots of other people - including police officers - saw it too. Darting craft that came close and then zoomed off.

"I'm not kidding you, I am convinced they were UFOs. A lot of people would say, 'Why would extraterrestrials from an advanced civilisation come to Salford?' Well, there's quite a lot you can learn about humanity in Salford.

"It was very strange and it has stayed with me. And no, I wasn't off my head."

Yes, I am half way through reading Shaun's autobiography and he mentioned this sighting of UFOs in Salford. I reckon that there has to every chance that other forms of life exist. Statistically it seems impossible that there CAN'T be other kinds of life out there. Whether Shaun saw evidence of another life.. I don't know.. but I am interested. I keep an open mind on most things .. I think that is a 'scientific' approach .. a closed mind is one that won't consider everything. And I do. Good luck Shaun. I will keep posted on this.. J x

PS.. I also think we assume that if 'other life forces' came to view us.. they would have something to learn? Maybe not? Maybe we are off the radar and a bit of interest, but basically we are of very little interest to 'them?' A lovely thought actually. And puts things in perspective a bit. :-)

One more thing. I have had experiences in my life of 'knowing things'.. things I could not quite explain. I have tried. I consider myself to be quite rational. So I always look to explain. And I still do. But some things were a bit odd. I have also heard many stories from other people of things they could not explain. I don't know? Like I said, I keep an open mind.
