Sam Faiers' stepdad arrested
'The Only Way Is Essex' sisters Sam and Billie Faiers' stepdad, Dave Chatwood, has been arrested and charged over a £1 million gold bullion heist.
Sam and Billie Faiers' stepdad has been arrested and charged over a £1 million heist.
'The Only Way Is Essex' sisters - who are still recovering after being attacked by thugs last month - were said to be stunned when Dave Chatwood was taken into police custody at the family home he shares with the girls and their mother, Sue.
Gold and silver bullion stolen from a lorry was found in two hotel rooms in Belgium and Chatwood, along with six others, has been charged with conspiracy to steal and plotting to conceal, transfer or remove criminal property.
He remains in custody after appearing before Barking Magistrates' Court in Essex.
Detective Inspector Sarah Staff of the Special Projects Team said: "A significant amount of this property, worth vast amounts of money, was recovered."
Chatwood, 57, has lived with Sue, Sam and Billie at their home in Brentwood for years and the girls view him as their real dad.
In June, the girls' biological father, Lee Faiers, was convicted of assaulting his partner Fay Simmons and was given a community service order and told to attend a domestic violence programme.
Billie tweeted this morning (02.11.11): "Woken up feeling very ill and run down, just when you think things can't get any worse ... (sic)"
