Katy Perry rejected X Factor guest judge slot
Katy Perry turned down the guest judge slot on last weekend's 'X Factor' because she felt it would be ''unfair'' to judge contestants when she didn't know their history on the show.
Katy Perry turned down the guest judge slot on last weekend's 'X Factor'.
The 'Last Friday Night' hitmaker explained while she would have "loved to" appear on the show as a stand-in for Kelly Rowland - who was struck down with a mystery throat infection, meaning she had to stay in Los Angeles - she felt it would be "unfair" as she didn't know the history of the hopefuls competing in the ITV1 series.
Katy - who appeared as a guest judge at the audition stages of last year's show - told Real Radio: "I would have loved to but I just didn't have time.
"I might have felt out of the loop as it's not the beginning. I wouldn't want to be an unfair critic by not knowing the artists' history."
With Kelly absent from the show all week - and replaced by former 'X Factor' winner Alexandra Burke in last weekend's live shows - eliminated contestant Sophie Habibis admitted it was "hard" not having her mentor's support.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "It was a bit of a test for me to see if I could do it or not. I was disappointed with my performance, but I don't think that was anything to do with Kelly not being there. She was there in spirit and we were talking on the phone a lot.
"It was obviously hard not having her there but I just had to get on with it."
