Sam and Billie Faiers have vowed to see the "animals" who attacked them caught and punished.

The 'Only Way Is Essex' sisters - who were left fearing for their lives after they were beaten to the ground by a savage girl gang last weekend - have given statements to the Metropolitan Police and had their horrific injuries photographed in a bid to catch the brutal attackers.

Billie told The Sun newspaper: "We want these animals caught and punished for what they've done to us."

A spokesperson for Sam - who was rushed to hospital for a brain scan following the incident - added: "The girls attended Ilford Police station so officers could record their injuries.

"We are determined those responsible are caught and prosecuted. This was an appalling and unprovoked attack. We are co-operating fully with the police."

Meanwhile, police have confirmed they will be "taking steps" to assess what happened.

A Met spokesman said: "Officers are taking steps to establish the full circumstances of what happened."

Sam - who in last night's (26.10.11) episode of 'TOWIE' was seen being comforted by love interest Mark Wright - admitted the horrific attack could have seen her "dead".

She explained: "I've been told one girl started screaming. She thought they had killed me because I wasn't moving. If a kick had landed any differently I could be dead."
