Sam and Billie Faiers on the night of the attack

Sam Faiers feared she would die after being attacked by a vicious girl gang at the weekend.

The 'Only Way Is Essex' star - who was rushed to hospital for a brain scan following the brutal beating in the early hours of Sunday morning (23.10.11) - was left with two black eyes, a split nose and scratches and bruises all the way down her back after the thugs came at her and sister Billie like a "herd of elephants".

Sam said: "They just came at me like a herd of elephants. It's just a blur. I was being so violently attacked by so many girls there was nothing I could do but curl up into a ball. Then I passed out.

"I was smashed to the ground and just beaten. I was punched in the face and kicked in the head.

"I've been told one girl started screaming. She thought they had killed me because I wasn't moving. If a kick had landed any differently I could be dead."

Likening their attackers to "football hooligans", Billie thinks they were targeted by the gang because of "jealousy" - but the sisters have vowed to get through their ordeal together.

Billie added to The Sun newspaper: "I was dragged around like a rag doll and Sam was nearly killed - all because of jealousy. They behaved like football hooligans. They were trying to kill us. I'm just so grateful Sam is OK."

Sam - who has been ordered to wear a neck brace by doctors - said: "We've always been close. We're both strong women and we'll stick together through this."
