EastEnders trio to get the boot?
EastEnders' Jodie Gold, Poppy Meadows and Norman Simmonds are all to get the boot from the BBC One soap when their current contracts come to an end
EastEnders' Jodie Gold, Poppy Meadows and Norman Simmonds are all to get the boot from the BBC One soap.
Despite it being hoped the appearance of ditzy duo Jodie and Poppy - played by Kylie Babbington and Rachel Bright - would inject some humour into the show, the pair will make their final appearances in Albert Square next month.
According to The Sun newspaper, Jodie - who was in an on-screen relationship with car dealer Darren Miller until he ditched her on their wedding day - and Poppy will bow out of the soap as the blonde bombshell goes on the hunt for missing Darren (Charlie Hawkins).
Meanwhile, Norman Simmonds - played by George Layton - will not be having his contract renewed now his romance with Pat Evans (Pam St. Clement) has come to an end.
'EastEnders' actress Cheryl Fergison - who portrayed unlucky-in-love Heather Trott in the BBC One soap - recently admitted she was "shocked" to learn she was being written out of the show after five years in Albert Square.
She said: "I was shocked when 'EastEnders' told me they weren't renewing my contract.
"I said, 'Thank you for having me and please don't tell me how I go'. I know everyone's going to ask me and I won't be able to keep quiet, so I just want to find out when I get the script."
