Michael Le Vell has returned to work on 'Coronation Street' following claims he sexually abused a six-year-old child
Michael Le Vell has returned to work on 'Coronation Street'.
The 46-year-old actor - who plays Kevin Webster in the ITV1 soap - hit the cobbles in Granada Studios, Manchester, for the first time in two weeks yesterday (20.10.11) after claims he sexually abused a six-year-old child.
Despite putting on a brave face, it wasn't long before the star was reduced to tears by the warm welcome he received from his 'Corrie' castmates.
A show source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "It was all very emotional. Everyone backed him wholeheartedly, without exception - shaking his hand and offering their support, saying they were 'with him'. He was clearly very touched by the response.
"Understandably, it was a nerve-racking day for him, but everyone was keen to put him at ease and make him feel welcome. Michael is a well-liked and respected colleague, and he has our complete backing while he fights this."
The star has been bailed until November 16, pending further enquiries inquiries in the case.
Following the claims, Michael said: "I strenuously deny these allegations and will do everything in my power to prove my innocence."
He has also been backed by co-star and on-screen wife Sally Dynevor - who plays Sally Webster in the soap - who is behind him "100 per cent".
Sally said: "Michael completely denies the accusation against him and I'm backing him 100 per cent."
