EastEnders' Yusef Khan will attempt to drive a wedge between Syed Masood and Amira Shah.
The evil doctor - played by Ace Bhatti - is worried the estranged couple's baby daughter Yasmin could affect his relationship with Syed's mother Zainab, who may not want to move to Pakistan with him because of her granddaughter.
So in a bid to ruin their friendship he tells the homosexual massage therapist's partner Christian Clarke (John Partridge) that the baby may not be Syed's (Marc Elliott).
Speaking about Yusef's suggestion that Christian should arrange a secret DNA test, a source said: "It'll give Amira (Preeya Kalidas) much more power if Syed's parents want her to stick around in Albert Square for a while.
"But while Amira thinks she's playing a clever game, she has no idea that Yusef is manipulating her. He's a very good liar so Amira doesn't realise he has ulterior motives.
"She would be devastated if she found out what Yusef is doing behind her back because it's another barrier to her being with Syed. Her reputation is already in tatters, and she's already an outcast in her community. And now Yusef is suggesting she was unfaithful. Everything's going wrong for her again."
Yusef has recently been attempting to control Zainab (Nina Wadia) by slipping sleeping tablets into her food.
Ace previously said: "Yusef has been giving Zainab sleeping pills but the quantity is bigger than it should be. He doesn't want to kill Zainab - he just wants to control her.
