Helen Flanagan is set to quit 'Coronation Street'.
The 21-year-old actress - who has played Rosie Webster in the ITV1 soap since she was nine years old - has confirmed she will film her final scenes at Christmas, but denied her decision has come because she has suffered a number of panic attacks on set in recent weeks.
She told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "I have played Rosie for more than half my life and I feel the time has come for me to move on and try something new. I am very excited about what the future might hold for me.
"I have loved playing Rosie and during my time growing up on Corrie I have made some amazing friends and learnt an awful lot."
'Coronation Street' bosses wanted Helen - whose contract was due to expire in March - to remain on the programme and they look set to leave the door open for her to return at a later date.
Helen - who recently moved back to her mum and dad's home in Bolton, sparking rumours she could be about to quit the show - is thought to be keen to take a break from acting to concentrate on her relationship with Swansea City footballer Scott Sinclair.
A friend explained: "She has struggled with panic attacks and makes no secret of that but she's getting them under control.
"Helen will probably take a break from acting. She can't wait to spend time with Scott and take their relationship to the next level. She may return one day but it's the last thing on her mind now."
