Former 'Coronation Street' star Gaynor Faye has joined 'Emmerdale'.
The 40-year-old actress will play Declan Macey's ambitious half-sister Megan, and is set to ruffle the feathers of the residents when she moves into Home Farm.
Gaynor is due to start filming next month and her character will hit TV screens in the New Year.
She said: "I'm incredibly excited to be joining 'Emmerdale' and being a Yorkshire lass myself, filming in Leeds, my hometown, is the icing on the cake!
"The women on 'Emmerdale' are strong and feisty and I can't wait to play my character who's fun but extremely driven and will stop at nothing to get her own way!
"She's quite different to many of the roles that I have played before and hopefully will take people by surprise. Here's to the New Year when I take my first tipple in the Woolpack!"
Megan will arrive in the village after Declan (Jason Merrells) phones her to ask if she wants to be involved in an exciting new business project, which is set to divide the opinion of the locals.
'Emmerdale' producer Stuart Blackburn is thrilled to have Gaynor on board especially with her soap pedigree, as she portrayed Judy Mallet in 'Coronation Street' throughout the 90s.
Stuart said: "I'm thrilled to welcome Gaynor to the show. This is an exciting new character for us and a new era at Home Farm. Megan will quickly remind Declan she has a shrewd ability to get what she wants, when she wants it."
