Amelia Lily: Janet was always Kelly's favourite
Amelia Lily thinks Janet Devlin was saved from the 'X Factor' chop because she was Kelly Rowland's ''favourite'' contestant in the Girls category.
Amelia Lily thinks Janet Devlin was saved from the 'X Factor' chop because she was Kelly Rowland's "favourite".
The 16-year-old singer - who was axed from the ITV1 talent show alongside James Michael, Jonjo Kerr and duo 2 Shoes last night (09.10.11) - thinks her mentor chose not to get rid of the Irish hopeful in the shock twist because she has been a fan of Janet's since her very first audition.
She said: "I always thought that Janet was one of her favourites, right back to her very first audition. But Kelly was an inspiration and she loved all of us individually."
Meanwhile, Amelia - who performed a rendition of Michael Jackson classic 'Billy Jean' on Saturday night's show (08.10.11) - thinks while the contestants in the Girls group, Janet, Misha Bryan and Sophie Habibis, chose "safe" songs, she took a risk with her performance.
Speaking on ITV1's 'This Morning', she added: "All this girls had really safe songs, but mine was a massive risk for me. I mean, mine was Michael Jackson - I'm a girl and I'm young but I thought, 'This competition is about taking risks'.
"I wanted a challenge and to make the song my own, and I think I did that. I was happy with my performance, not many people could pull off 'Billy Jean' the way I did."
Elsewhere, 2 Shoes' Charley Bird - who is joined in the duo by best pal Lucy Texeira - insists being six months pregnant didn't have anything to do with mentor Tulisa Contostavlos' decision to axe her from the competition.
She said: "I'm due early next year. Obviously, I cannot wait to be a mum and it's been amazing to have both things going on at once. I don't know if it had anything to do with her decision, I don't think Tulisa is like that."
