Kitty Brucknell vowed to enter 'The X Factor' from her hospital bed when she didn't know whether she would ever be able to walk again
Kitty Brucknell vowed to enter 'The X Factor' from her hospital bed.
The 26-year-old hopeful - who was struck down with a rare illness last year, which left doctors fearing she would never walk again - explained while medical experts didn't know if she would ever make a full recovery, she never gave up on her musical dreams.
She told BANG Showbiz: "Everyone obviously wants to win, but I've spent so long trying to make it - literally since I was about 5 or 6. I was always the driving force behind it, even though people think I have pushy parents. I used to call up venues when I was 12 to try and get a gig.
"When I was in my hospital bed and I didn't even know if I was going to walk again, I was still singing. I've always been very driven and ambitious, and I just wanted to see what happened. I thought things could be different this year with a new panel."
Kitty is planning to enter the Live Finals of the ITV1 show tonight (08.10.11) with a bang and is hoping to wear a costume that costs "hundreds of thousands of pounds".
She added: "My song shows off a whole different side to me, but totally encompasses what I'm about. If I get the costume I'm hoping for, it will be great.
"I'm begging the stylist - she has to source it from an incredible designer, who I adore. The costume will cost literally hundreds of thousands of pounds, so I doubt I'll get to keep it. I'd love to wear that costume."
However, this wouldn't be the first time the eccentric blonde has donned a pricey outfit, as she lost her flat after splashing out £2,500 on a light-up leotard for her final Boot Camp audition.
Kitty explained: "My Boot Camp performance is quite a good example of the way I am; I looked at the song and thought 'OK, what would you do if you're feeling good?'
"Right, I do have this amazing outfit that lights up and I did lose my flat over it. If I'm going to perform at Wembley, then I have to wear that outfit."
