Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr joined to paid tribute to George Harrison yesterday (02.10.11).
The two surviving members of The Beatles joined with their bandmate's widow, Olivia Harrison, his son Dhani, producer Sir George Martin, Noel Gallagher, Ronnie Wood and Yoko Ono - wife of the fourth member of the group, John Lennon, who was assassinated in 1980 - at the premiere of 'Living in the Material World', a new documentary about the guitarist and songwriter by Martin Scorsese in London.
Paul told the BBC: "Every time I see something to do with George it brings back more memories than you would believe. He was my little mate on the school bus. A lot of fond memories. He's sorely missed by us all."
He also said George gave the world: "Great music, great writing, great guitar playing. An all round good boy."
Ringo said he was moved that such a compassionate film was being made about his friend ten years after his death from lung cancer.
He said: "You remember his guitar and later on his songwriting. It is far out, but it's like the Beatles go on forever."
Director Martin -who has previously made documentaries about The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan - also attended the premiere of the movie, which he had worked on over five years.
He said: "Harrison's music is really what the key is for me. He seemed to be dealing with themes that I connected with. I found comfort in them and a hope and a special experience listening to his music. So I was fascinated by him."
'Living in the Material World' has as limited cinema run in the UK, starting tomorrow (04.10.11).
