'The X Factor' contestant Terry Winstanley has blasted mentor Louis Walsh for not supporting him enough at the Judge's Houses stage of the competition
'The X Factor' contestant Terry Winstanley has blasted mentor Louis Walsh.
The crooner doesn't feel he and the other contestants in the Over 25s category –batting it out for a place in the show's live finals - were given enough support when they flew to Barcelona for the Judge's Houses stage of the competition.
He told The People newspaper: "We saw Louis three times – when he welcomed us to Barcelona, when we sang and for his final decision.
"He gave us no advice, no inspiration at all. That's not a mentor.
"I sent him loads of emails, and barely heard a few words back.
"When he eventually replied on email about our song choices, he told us to make our own decision about what we wanted to sing. Not exactly what he's said in front of the cameras."
Lorry driver Terry also criticised Louis' advisor, Sinitta - former girlfriend of show creator Simon Cowell – as he didn't feel she and Louis were working together closely to pick the acts.
He added: "Sinitta joined Louis to listen to our songs, but she barely said anything at all. It was very obvious the two of them had no time for each other. It was pathetic."
Louis is the only remaining original judge on the show, after a shake up saw Tulisa Contostavlos, Kelly Rowland and Gary Barlow join the panel. Take That singer Gary said at the show's launch he wanted the new judges to be the most hands-on yet.
He said: "I think you are going to see for the first time real mentoring going on, with time being put into these kids.
"And we are going to see a better quality of acts this year because of it."
Terry also complained the Boot Camp and Judge's Houses stages of the talent show were "like prison camps" with contestants often working from 6.30am one day until 3am the next.
Viewers will find out if Terry gets picked as one of Louis' finalists on tonight's show, aired on ITV1 at 7.45pm.
