James Corden has never been happier "professionally or personally".
The 'Gavin and Stacey' star became a father for the first time in March when his fiance Julia Carey gave birth to their son Max, and he is currently winning rave reviews for his role in 'One Man, Two Guvnors' at London's National Theatre.
He said: "Right now I couldn't feel happier professionally or personally in any way really. I really appreciate them after getting through the tough times.
"Becoming a dad was the most wonderful thing, everything has changed in the best possible way."
James admitted he struggled to cope with his quick rise to fame after 'Gavin and Stacey' - in which he played larger than life Smithy - first became a hit, as he surrounded himself with hangers-on rather than his real friends.
He added to ITV1's 'This Morning: "I struggled with fame at first. My long-term relationship had just broken up, I got so intoxicated on that first flush of success that it went to my head a little bit.
"You have to surround yourself with people who know you best but you do end up going out with all of your new friends."
